We're closely connected to the industry - through both development and outstaffing - so we constantly see what's changing in real teams and real products.

Rather than reacting to surface trends, we pay attention to deeper signals: which technologies are actually being used, which stacks are emerging in live projects, and how early-stage teams are building their tools. We learn from hands-on work - client requests, product decisions, daily conversations. But just as much comes from what's around us: developer forums, open-source repos, off-the-record chats, and patterns we see at events. These are often the first signs of change.

That perspective helps us make better decisions - on where to grow, when to shift, and how to stay relevant over time. We're not here to chase trends. We're here to cultivate lasting competence and to help our clients do the same.

Network at Tech Meetups

My secret to staying up-to-date on the latest trends in technologies to recruit for the software development space may sound a bit unusual, but I learned it from a founder of several tech companies.

1. Attend tech meetups in tech-centric cities around the country like NYC, SF, Richmond (VA), Austin, and even Salt Lake City. Speaking in person with business leaders or investors about the tech they use in their companies is extremely helpful. Most of the time, you hear about something new coming up, or even get to watch a product demonstration of something a person is working on.

2. Pay attention to Product Hunt! For over 15 years, I have relied on this site as the best way to discover new products coming out every day! Moreover, when you look at the company on Product Hunt, it is very easy to implement my next tip.

3. Ask the CEO of the company while networking on LinkedIn. Now, this only works if you are very careful with your words and respectful of the person's time. The reality is people love to share their opinions, and a CEO is often happy to share some information about the latest trend, as long as you stick around to hear about his/her company.

I have connected with some of the most amazing CEOs in the world on LinkedIn, including the CEO of my current company. I reached out to him in 2016 to ask him about a company he was building.

I asked him some questions about what he was working on and promised to use the service, too. I chatted with him for a year, and was hired by him in 2017.

Engage with Hiring Managers

To recruit for any technical roles, it's important to have meaningful conversations with hiring managers to understand the technical aspects of what they're looking for. In addition to that, I ensure that I am attending relevant webinars, subscribing to relevant newsletters, regularly following trusted tech blogs, and conducting research on the latest tools to stay up to date and recruit effectively.

I make it a point to spend at least an hour each day reading developer forums and watching tech talks—not just high-level overviews, but deep dives into new languages or tools. A few months ago, I noticed a rising buzz around Rust in open-source communities, so I pushed my recruiters to familiarize themselves with its ecosystem. I also attend niche meetups and encourage my team to build small projects themselves, which helps them ask better questions during interviews. The real secret is staying curious and humble—technology moves fast, and the moment you think you "know enough," you start missing out on emerging skills. This hands-on approach helps me spot candidates who aren't just current but adaptable, which is what truly drives success in software hiring.

We also cultivate strong relationships with our hiring managers and engineering teams internally, regularly picking their brains about the technical challenges they're facing and the skills they anticipate needing in the near future.
